On Thursday, 28th November 2024, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Issac Ipara Odeo hosted the CEO/Secretary of the Commission for University Education (CUE), Prof. Mike Kuria, during his familiarization tour of the University. During the visit, Prof. Kuria engaged in extensive discussions with the Deputy Vice Chancellors and Registrars.
During his address, Prof. Kuria emphasized the importance of strengthening collaboration between CUE and universities. He elaborated on the Commission’s newly launched Strategic Plan, which outlines key priorities for advancing higher education. He underscored the need for universities to align their practices with CUE’s quality standards and to embrace the Commission as a partner in fostering growth and innovation. He noted that this approach would help institutions see CUE not as a policing authority but as an enabler of excellence.
Prof. Kuria commended Kibabii University for its impressive achievements, noting the University’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, well-planned campus layout, and remarkable hospitality. He expressed his satisfaction with the progress the University has made in aligning with the strategic priorities outlined by CUE. He urged the University to place technology at the core of its operations to remain competitive in an evolving academic landscape. Additionally, he advocated for regional and international mobility among students and staff to expand learning opportunities and foster global collaboration.
