On Thursday 10th March 2022, Kibabii University Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo met with Cohort III international students. The 8 students sponsored by the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) hail from 4 countries; Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda and South Sudan. The VC started his address by welcoming the students to Kenya and to Kibabii University indicating that it is a home away from their original homeland.
“This programme is aimed at reducing differences that exist between your country and Kenya. You must therefore act as good ambassadors for the countries you come from,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor further stated that Kibabii University is well defined by humility that do exist among its family, assuring them of minimal culture shock. He challenged the students to complete their programme within the stipulated period so as to give back to their countries.
The acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & Student Affairs) Prof. Stanley Mutsotso in his address pledged to offer one of the best experiences to the students while at the University.
“Kibabii University is the only University that has been able to graduate the first Cohort of students from IUCEA. We shall ensure that you also graduate after two years as per the programme,” he said.
He further advised the learners to seek counselling from the University in case of any form of discomfort and to avoid engaging in malpractices during their stay in Kenya.
The meeting organized by the office of Linkage and International Affairs was also attended by the DVC (Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Benedict M. Mutua and the DVC (Administration, Finance and Development) Prof. Donald Siamba.
