“Everyone wants to become the best version of themselves, but few actually do it. We’re our own worst enemies when it comes to achieving success, chasing our dreams, and living a life that’s filled with passion and purpose. Follow passion like others but don’t be like others, be your own kind of person and set goals which really makes you happy.” This has been the driving force behind my academic journey and excellence in Kibabii University, (KIBU).
I joined Kibabii University (KIBU), the then Kibabii University College (KIBUCO) way back when the institution was in her early inceptions of catching up with the trend of becoming one of the modern and best institutions of higher learning not only in Western Kenya but also in the entire Nation. As we speak now Kibabii University is really thriving and surfacing well on the World map as far as institutions of higher learning are concerned.
Joining Kibabii University to me, appeared as a dream with no interpreter to explain to me what exactly this meant. Having born and brought up in a small village in the outskirts of Vihiga County, going to the university was nothing to joke with as the whole village and community at large were happy that God had remembered them for allowing one of their own to proceed to the next level of life’s journey.
2Nd September, 2013 when the gates to my academic journey and life were opened in Kibabii University. Over the years she has been of great help to me from one discipline to another. She is a mother of all disciplines from leadership, academics, socio-cultural, political and other co-curricular activities. It is in Kibabii University that I learned that not only was I a mere student but also a great leader, a teacher, motivator, counsellor and a debater as days unfolded. Kibabii University taught me that; Yesterday=Experience, Today=Experiment, Tomorrow= Expectations, therefore, use your experience in your experiment to achieve your expectations.
Have travelled around East and Central Africa courtesy of Kibabii University a well re-known giant in her sporting activities i.e. soccer both men and women, hockey men, volleyball, handball, tae-kwon-do a few but to mention. Above all I can’t forget to thank the Almighty God who assisted me to grow with Kibabii University altogether. At one time in my 3Rd year I discovered that; “Maturity has nothing to do with age, but comes from experiences, mistakes, learning and understanding the mistakes you’ve learned. Every event in your life, no matter what how big or small, plays a significant role in your growth”. Kibabii University not only gives you cognitive knowledge but also hands-on skills which can and will help you cop up with the job market out here. Have seen her organize internship activities, shows and exhibitions, careers and cultural activities all in favor of her students whom she deems her center of core operation.
Lastly, to you who is reading this and any other persons who are willing or admiring to join and be part of Kibabii University, your thoughts are valid and at no given time will you regret your actions. “If we feed the seed of an unselfish goal in our life, with prominence, do our deeds with persistence, proceed with perseverance, and accede patience, then we surely reap the result of a profound success with an excellence.
To those still trusting the process and yet to become Kibabii University Alumni “no matter what your situation is, you can become a successful person today. You may not be able to reap the reward yet, but you can start planting the seeds”.
