KIBU Touches a Child through a Donation to Bungoma’s Kanduyi Children’s Home

In extending the community outreach endeavours, the University on Thursday 27th October, 2022 donated an assortment of items that included a number of refurbished mattresses and food items to Kanduyi Children’s Home. The Centre, which was established in 1975 is home to 111 children aged between 11/2 years and 22 years.

According to the Branch Administrative Officer Mrs Christine Wali who received the donation, the Centre handles diverse cases arising from abandonment, abuse, neglect, HIV and mental challenges. Since 2011, with the help of the Government through the Child Welfare Society of Kenya, the Centre has successfully rehabilitated thousands of cases through family care, reconciliation and skill development for exiting persons. She however indicated that there is still a big shortfall in their budget that requires well wishers to fill the gaps in ordee to meet  their operational costs.

“We note with high regard how the university continues to give to the community. This donation comes at a time when we are receiving an upsurge of cases of abuse in families and the society at large. This hereby means that our needs are never ending,” she said.

The delegation from Kibabii University was headed by the Senior Hostels Officer Mrs. Margaret Waithaka.
