On 22nd October, 2024, the President’s Award – Kenya (PA-K) Western Region Coordinator visited the University to mark its new status as a fully operational Award Centre. He was received by the Incharge, Student Affairs Dr. Benson Nasong’o.
The President’s Award-Kenya provides institutions with a framework (The Award) for non-formal education and learning through which young people’s achievements outside of academia are recognized and celebrated. The Award guides young people aged 14-24 to use their free time productively to equip themselves with positive life skills to make a difference for themselves, their communities, country and the world.
Licensed to run the Award Programme by the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, The President’s Award-Kenya is also a State Agency under the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports. Its patron is His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, and commander in chief of the Defense Forces.
For the University, Award Leaders led by Mr. Cyprian Lusweti will engage with student leaders and the wider student body to raise awareness of the program. They will also identify students with prior Award experience to support activities and train them as Award Assessors. Additionally, Kibabii University will establish a Student’s Award Leadership team, including roles such as Chairperson, Secretary, Finance Director, and others to lead various Award initiatives.
