Kibabii University Council members as directors are under pressure to achieve a multitude of goals, among them to foster the Institution’s culture that supports long-term value creation, improve the diversity of the Board and the management team, focus on sustainability issues affecting the institution’s long-term strategy, enhance oversight of risk, and strengthen engagement efforts with stakeholders.
Continuous skills and professional development of the University Council goes a long way in ensuring that Council is well equipped with skills and knowledge for effective and efficient governance, oversight and performance excellence.
It is against this background that a two days Council Induction and Training was held at Grand Royal Swiss Hotel in Kisumu on 14th and 15th March, 2024, on the theme: “Consolidating Experiences for Transformation of Higher Education through Good Corporate Governance”. The Induction and Training covered the following topics:
- Good Corporate Governance facilitated by the State Corporations Advisory Committee (SCAC);
- Financial Management and Digitization of Services to ensure efficient and effective service delivery facilitated by officers from The National Treasury and Economic Planning; and,
- Functions and Core Mandate of the University facilitated by Kibabii University Management.
