Kibabii University conducts Training to staff on SHA System

Kibabii University on 17th and 18th December 2024 held a training on the Social Health Authority (SHA) system, aimed at enhancing the health services provided in the University. The primary goal of this training was to prepare the Kibabii University Health Centre Level 3B to commence offering Primary Health Care (PHC) services to students, staff, and the general public under the SHA system. The Social Health Authority is a key framework established to enhance health service delivery in Kenya. It focuses on implementing a comprehensive approach to health care that includes access to primary health care services through designated facilities and providing financial protection against health-related expenses.

The training was specifically designed for direct Health Service Providers, members of Management, and Senior Management personnel. The event was opened by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administrative, Finance and Development) Prof. Donald Siamba on behalf of the Vice Chancellor and facilitated by the Kibabii University Health Services Department in collaboration with officials from the Ministry of Health Mr.  Kennedy Mutenyo, as well as SHA officials; Ms. Azenath Aosa, Mr. Martin Kiprop, and Ms. Terry Naliaka.

This two-day training represents a crucial step in Kibabii University’s efforts to integrate these services effectively, thereby promoting better health outcomes for its community members.
