Kibabii University is moving closer to establishing its own printing press after a benchmarking visit to Kisii University Library that took place between 30th October and 1st November, 2024. The delegation, led by Prof. Ernest Mohochi, Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, aimed to gather insights on setting up a robust, cost-effective in-house printing and bindery system.
The visiting team also included Mr. Samuel Wakahia, In-Charge of Library Services and Documentation Center; Mr. Isaac Manje, Head of the Documentation Center; and Mr. Meshack Nyambane, Corporate Communications and Marketing Officer.
A key part of the visit was a detailed review of Kisii University’s printing operations, which produce essential university materials like handbooks, graduation booklets, examination booklets, and promotional materials. The delegation also engaged in discussions with Kisii University’s library staff, covering important aspects such as initial capital investment, staff training, and workflow management needed to establish and maintain a printing press.
The excercise reinforced Kibabii University’s commitment to enhancing its documentation and reprographic capabilities, ensuring the University meets its growing needs for quality printed materials effectively and efficiently.
