Vice Chancellor Graces the 24th Nairobi International Book Fair

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo was the Chief Guest during the 24th Nairobi International Book Fair (NIBF), held between Wednesday, 24th September and Sunday 1st, October 2023, at the Sarit Expo Centre, Nairobi. At the heart of this year’s event was the theme “Nurturing Talent Through Publishing,” which resonated with the hundreds of attendees.

Organized by the Kenya Publishers Association (KPA), the NIBF is an annual event that brings together publishers, authors, academics, and book enthusiasts from across Kenya and beyond. The Kenya Publishers Association (KPA) has been at the forefront of promoting literacy and advancing the publishing industry in Kenya. The Fair aims to promote literacy, celebrate Kenya’s rich literary heritage, and encourage the dissemination of knowledge through print and digital media.

Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo is a distinguished figure in the field of education, author and a passionate advocate for the power of books. His presence underscored the importance of the Fair’s theme, emphasizing the crucial role that publishing plays in nurturing and developing talent. During the event, he was presented with a wide array of books by the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). The books are drawn from various publishers, reflecting the diversity of literature available in Kenya and beyond. In a thoughtful gesture, the Vice Chancellor presented the books to the Kibabii University library, enriching its collection and ensuring that students and researchers have access to a broader spectrum of knowledge and ideas.

Prof. Odeo expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to be part of the 24th Nairobi International Book Fair.

“Books are the lifeblood of education and the foundation upon which talents are nurtured. I am honored to be a part of this incredible event that celebrates literature, encourages learning, and fosters a culture of reading,” he said.
