Vice Chancellor Donates Soccer Uniforms to University Team

On Monday, 18th May 2026, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Isaac Ipara Odeo, fulfilled his pledge by presenting a personal donation of a set of soccer uniforms to the University team as they prepare for the East Africa University Games scheduled to take place in Tanzania in December 2026.

The University team earned qualification for the East Africa University Games after an impressive performance at the Kenya University Sports Federation (KUSF) National Soccer Championships held at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa between 28th and 30th March 2026. Kibabii University emerged runners-up in the highly competitive tournament, securing the Silver medal and making history by reaching the National Finals for the first time. In the final against Kenyatta University, both teams settled for a 1–1 draw in regular time before Kenyatta University narrowly won 4–2 in a penalty shootout.

The donation was received by the In-charge of Student Affairs, Dr. Leonita Makila. Speaking during the presentation ceremony, the Vice Chancellor commended the consistent improvement demonstrated by various University teams and applauded the Student Affairs Department for its dedication and support towards sports development. He particularly singled out the soccer team for its outstanding achievement in reaching the national finals.

In her remarks, Dr. Makila challenged the team to uphold discipline, take good care of University facilities, and fully utilize the available resources to achieve greater success in future competitions.

“We are indebted to the Vice Chancellor for this generous support,” she said.

The Vice Chancellor further challenged the team to bring the East African trophy home, reiterating the University’s commitment to facilitating all sporting disciplines in pursuit of excellence and outstanding performance in various championships.
