Taekwondo & Karate: 2 Golds, 1 Silver and 6 Bronze Medals at the East Africa University Games

Kibabii University’s Taekwondo and Karate teams recorded an outstanding performance at the East Africa University Games, bringing home a total of 2 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 6 Bronze medals. With the medal standings, the male Taekwondo was ranked the Best Overall team, while the female Taekwondo team secured 7th position.

In Taekwondo, the athletes showcased across various weight categories. Omuse Elisha Nathaniel claimed a Gold in the Middleweight Men’s (<87kgs) category in the opening day of the competitions. Lewin Kuloba also took home a Gold medal in the Heavyweight Male (>87kgs) category. Scovia Manuche added to the medal tally with a Silver in the Middleweight Female (<73kgs) category. Other athletes secured Bronze medals; Moses Otieno in the Fin Weight Male (<54kgs), Nangila Brenda Nekesa in the Fin Weight Female (<46kgs), Oluoch Gilbert in the Welterweight Men’s (<80kgs), Joseph Odhiambo in the Lightweight Men’s (<74kgs), and Rose Alividza in the Featherweight Female (<57kgs) category.

In Karate, Giborn Jumaa represented the University in the Kumite category (72kgs), earning a Bronze medal.
