KIBU Students to Elect New Office Bearers

The Students Organization of Kibabii University (SOKU) will on Thursday, 28th April, 2022 take to the ballot to elect the 5th Students Governing Council. This is after the lapse of term and dissolution of the preceding Council vide Article 28 of the SOKU Constitution.

As a precursor to the polls, contestants for elective seats took to the podium to validate their manifesto to the electorate during the “Kamukunji” forum on the afternoon of Tuesday, 26th April, 2022. The exercise spearheaded by the Chairman of the Students Electoral Commission Dr. Edwin Masibo subjected the contestants to a captivating debate that laid bear their prowess and charisma in the ears and eyes of their ardent supporters.

According to The Universities Amendment Act (2016), the Student Council consisting of seven (7) positions shall serve as the Executive and shall be elected from the Electoral College Nominees. In this year’s elections, SOKU has attracted a total of 45 male and female nominees across all the Schools and Faculties.

The Dean of Students Dr. Alice Chemutai Mutai assured the students’ community of the University’s preparedness to the Thursday exercise and urged for peaceful interaction before, during and after the elections as the official campaigns period came to a closure.
