KIBU Rugby Thrashes Bungoma RFC in A Fiery Nationwide Derby

Kibabii University Rugby Club scored four tries, two successful conversions and three penalties to cement a 33-14 win against a seasoned Bungoma Rugby Club in a match played during the weekend at Kibabii University Sports Complex.

Bungoma opened the score sheet with a try from winger Antony Juma to make it 5-0 in the opening minutes of the match. A thrilling attack from the University side and a try from Kibabii Blues captain Mathews Ouma levelled the score at the 26th minute, followed by a conversion and a penalty to safeguard a half time score of 11-5. Wellingtone Khaemba, Brian Wanjala and Eugene Chimano ensured the Blues secured a maiden win between the two sides after three previous encounters in the gruelling Bungoma County derby.

Kibabii Blues sits at the top of the Nationwide table having won all previous matches against Shamberere Technical Institute, Busia Borderucks, and Vihiga Granites (walkover).

With two matches to go, Blues are almost assured of semi finals slot with the next match against close challengers Sigalagala slated for the last weekend of the month.
