Kibabii University Rugby Team has received a boost for the next season with a Group Personal Accident Insurance Cover from Fidelity Insurance. The sponsorship, courtesy of Minet (K) Insurance Brokers shall cover up to Ksh. 500,000 and Ksh. 200,000 worth of permanent disablement and medical expenses respectively to the Technical Managers; and Ksh. 250,000 and Ksh. 100,000 to cover permanent disablement and medical expenses respectively for 34 players. The one-year sponsorship deal takes effect from 1st July, 2022.
The Insurance cover notes were presented to the Vice Chancellor Prof Isaac Ipara Odeo by the Branch Manager, Minet (K) Insurance Brokers Western Division Mr. Geoffrey Ombachi on Friday 20th May, 2022.
Mr. Ombachi lauded the Kibabii Rugby Team for the impact they had made as new entrants into the Nationwide League season that ended in March 2022.
“It has been exciting to see how this young University has risen fast in games and sports. As you put in your resources to support these young talents, ours is to meet the uncertainties of tomorrow by delivering risk solutions to you today and for the future. We look forward to partnering more,” he said.
The Vice Chancellor acknowledged the sponsorship, terming it a timely gain to the sporting fraternity of Kibabii University.
“Sports is a sure way to mental health and stability. For our young athletes to get recognition from a reputable organization of your calibre is a humbling experience and we look forward to positive interactions,” he noted.
The event was also attended by the Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof. Stanley Mutsotso, The Dean of Students Dr. Alice Mutai, the Legal Officer Ms. Jacqueline Wanjala among other University Officers.
