Kibabii University was recognized among Kenya’s leading institutions after winning an award at the 8th Diversity and Inclusion Awards & Recognition (DIAR) Gala Dinner held on Friday 27th March, 2026 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Nairobi. The University was honored under the “Taifa Champions Category” in recognition of its outstanding commitment to inclusivity, equity, sustainability, and social impact. The Award was officially received by the Member of the University Council, Dr. Jeniffer Chepkemoi on behalf of the Chairman of Council and the University.
Organized by Daima Trust, the DIAR Awards celebrate organizations that champion diversity, inclusion, and sustainable development while inspiring transformative change across the country. Over the past year, the University has expanded its international footprint through strategic collaborations and sustainability-focused initiatives, while also making a tangible impact locally by providing healthcare services to over 700 community members and supporting programs such as the UNESCO-backed martial arts project for girls in the community. These efforts underscore the University’s commitment to both global relevance and community transformation.
Kibabii University has also made notable progress in promoting equity and inclusion within its workforce. The University has achieved the constitutional gender threshold, with a balanced representation of male and female staff. Out of a total of 403 staff members, 225 (55.8%) are male while 178 (44.2%) are female, reflecting its commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative academic environment. In addition, the University continues to enhance inclusion for Persons with Disabilities, increasing the number of employees living with disabilities from four (4) to eight (8) over the past year, in line with the provisions of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025.
