Kibabii University Student Mungau Omuse Departs for Norway under Erasmus+ Mobility Programme

Kibabii University continues to expand its international footprint through the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme, which provides students and staff with valuable opportunities for academic exchange and cross-cultural learning.

On Sunday, 11th January 2026, one student from Kibabii University, Mr. Granton Mungau Omuse, departed for NLA University College in Bergen, Norway, where he will spend a full semester abroad. Ahead of his departure, the University leadership formally bid him farewell and encouraged him to represent the institution with distinction.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, congratulated Mr. Omuse on earning the Erasmus+ opportunity and urged him to make the most of his time in Norway by focusing on academic excellence, cultural exchange, and personal growth. He emphasized the importance of being an ambassador of Kibabii University and Kenya, noting that international exposure plays a critical role in shaping globally competent graduates.

During the same occasion, the Vice Chancellor warmly welcomed back Ms. Faith Henzen Masai and Mr. Oscar Kiboi, who had successfully completed the autumn semester at NLA University College. He commended them for their resilience and adaptability in a new academic and cultural environment, and encouraged them to share their experiences with fellow students to inspire greater participation in international programmes.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research, and Innovation), Prof. Julius Maiyo, congratulated the returning students on a successful semester abroad and praised the Erasmus+ programme for enhancing students’ academic, intercultural, and professional competencies. He encouraged the outgoing student to remain open-minded, disciplined, and proactive, advising him to engage fully in academic activities, build international networks, and document his learning experiences for the benefit of the wider University community.

The students were accompanied by Dr. Robert Kati, Dean of the School of Graduate Studies, and Mr. Onex Opati, Coordinator of the Institute of Gender and Development Studies, who are also participants in the exchange programme. As part of the departure preparations, Mr. Omuse was briefed by the returning students and Mr. Opati on what to expect while in Norway. The briefing covered academic expectations at NLA University College, cultural norms, student life in Bergen, weather considerations, and practical guidance on adapting to life in a new country.
