Twenty-seven (27) student leaders from the 9th SOKU Leadership of Kibabii University attended a two-day mentorship workshop held from 7th to 8th May 2026 at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Lower Kabete, Nairobi, under the theme “Transformative and Adaptive Leadership.” The workshop provided an important platform for the student leaders to learn, interact, and strengthen their leadership, governance, and service delivery skills.
For many years, Kibabii University student leaders from have undergone leadership training at KSG owing to the institution’s strong reputation in nurturing competent leaders for effective service in both the public and corporate sectors.
The training was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, who encouraged the student leaders to embrace servant leadership. He reminded them that true leadership is demonstrated through humility, responsibility, accountability, and service to others. He also congratulated the leaders on their successful election held on 27th March 2026.
Key addresses were made by various members of the University Management including; The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs) Prof. Joshua Ogendo, The Registrar (Academic Affairs) Sr. Dr. Jacklyne Alari, Finance Officer Dr. Benjamin Oduori, and the Chairman of the Students Electoral Committee Prof. Robert Kati. Their presentations focused on key areas such as academic procedures and policies, effective leadership and governance, budgeting and financial planning, youth leadership competencies, mental health, and emotional well-being.
The student leaders were also addressed by the Director General of KSG, Prof. Nurah Mohammed, who urged them to work together despite their differences and to support one another in effectively serving the student community. The sessions at KSG were also facilitated internally by Mr. Peter Quest and Mr. James G. Kamau, who guided the leaders through engaging, interactive, and insightful discussions.
The student leaders were accompanied by the In-Charge, Dr. Leunita Makila, the Deputy Dean of Students, Dr. Benson Nasongo, and the Office Administrator, Ms. Linnet Nabutola.
