Kibabii University has continued to strengthen its global engagement agenda through a staff mobility visit to NLA University College in Bergen, Norway, under the Erasmus+ Programme. The visit, held during the International Partner Days from 20th to 22nd April 2026, brought together academic and administrative representatives from partner institutions across the world, creating a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and institutional networking.
The University was represented by Dr. Patrick Owoche, Professor Robert Kati, and Mr. Onex Opati. Throughout the visit, the delegation participated in a series of structured activities, including keynote presentations, workshops, exhibitions, and interactive sessions focused on emerging issues such as digitalization, artificial intelligence, and research capacity development. These engagements provided an opportunity for Kibabii University to both learn from international best practices and showcase its own progress, particularly in Open, Distance, and eLearning (ODeL) and the integration of technology in teaching and learning.
A key outcome of the visit was the strengthening of academic and research collaboration between Kibabii University and NLA University College. Through faculty engagement sessions, the delegation shared insights on innovative teaching methodologies, the use of digital platforms to enhance student engagement, and the University’s research priorities. These discussions opened up concrete opportunities for joint research initiatives, co-supervision of postgraduate students, and collaborative grant applications, particularly within the Erasmus+ framework and other international funding mechanisms.
Beyond academic engagements, the programme incorporated cultural experiences that enriched the overall visit and strengthened relationships among participants. These interactions helped to build trust and mutual understanding, which are essential for sustaining long-term international partnerships.
Overall, the staff mobility visit has had a significant strategic impact on Kibabii University, enhancing academic quality through exposure to global best practices, expanded research capacity through access to international networks, and accelerated the University’s digital learning agenda. Furthermore, it laid a strong foundation for sustained collaboration with NLA University College through future staff and student exchanges, joint academic programmes, and collaborative research projects.
