Kibabii University Recognized for its Role in Promoting Regional Integration at the IUCEA Vice Chancellors’ Meeting in Entebbe, Uganda

Kibabii University was honored for its outstanding contribution to promoting regional integration during the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) Vice Chancellors’ Meeting held in Entebbe, Uganda from 15th to 19th September 2025. The meeting followed the Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Community Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA).

Since 2022, the University has advanced regional integration through the admission of postgraduate students sponsored by IUCEA. In recognition of its commitment to regional academic collaboration, Kibabii University received a certificate for supporting the East African Community Students’ Scholarship Mobility Scheme affirming the University’s active role in fostering regional integration, capacity building, and knowledge exchange within the East African Community.

This event took place alongside the 14th Annual East African Education Quality Assurance Conference held in Kampala, where the University was represented by the Registrar (Academic Affairs), Sr. Dr. Jacklyne Okello Alari.

The forum, held under the theme “Strengthening and Harmonizing Higher Education Quality Assurance Systems for Enhanced East African Regional Integration,” was organized by the East African Higher Education Quality Assurance Network (EAQAN), in collaboration with IUCEA and Uganda’s National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

During the conference, Dr. Alari presented a paper titled “Enhancing Quality Assurance Mechanisms to Promote Competence-Based Education (CBE) Implementation in Basic Education: The Experience in Kenya.” Her presentation showcased Kenya’s strides in embedding CBE within its education system and emphasized the crucial role of quality assurance in sustaining its success.
