Kibabii University and Partners Host Successful Free Community Medical Camp

In a remarkable display of community collaboration and healthcare provision, Kibabii University joined forces with Crescent Hopkins Hospital, MOH Bungoma, Kenya Red Cross, Kahusietow, and Kibabii Community Forum to host a free Community Medical Camp. The event, held on March 8th, 2024, at Tuuti Market, witnessed a significant turnout, demonstrating the community’s appreciation for the initiative.

Gracing the occasion was the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor for Planning Partnership Research and Innovation (DVC PPRI), Prof. Munir Muganda, representing the esteemed Vice Chancellor. Accompanying him were notable figures such as Prof. Donald Siamba, the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Administration Finance and Development (DVC AF&D), Dr. Charles Wasike, In-charge Administration, Dr. Ombongi, Director of Hopkins Hospital, and Mr. Solomon Satiah from MOH Bungoma.

A series of essential services was offered at the camp, catering to various aspects of healthcare. These included mental health and substance abuse counseling, family planning guidance, general public health awareness sessions, psycho-social first aid, and an anti-jigger campaign. Moreover, attendees benefited from malaria management, de-worming treatments, and consultations on security and health matters.

The overwhelming response from the community underscored the significance of such initiatives in addressing the healthcare needs of underserved populations. The area chief conveyed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the community, emphasizing the long-awaited recognition and assistance provided through the camp.

“We are happy as a community that we have been remembered after a long period of time,” expressed the area chief. “We say thank you to Kibabii University and other stakeholders who saw it and organized for this camp. We urge you to plan for more so that all the members of this community can benefit.”
