Kibabii University’s Professor of Information Technology Franklin Wabwoba has been appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic, Research and Students Affairs) at Karatina University.
Prof. Wabwoba has been a key figure at Kibabii University since its establishment as a Constituent College in 2012. He played a pivotal role in the setting up of the University, contributing significantly to its academic and administrative development. Over the years, he has held various leadership roles, including serving as the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics and Student Affairs), a position he held for nearly a year. He has also served as the Director of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), a position he held until his departure.
As the founding Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at Kibabii University College in 2012, Prof. Wabwoba laid the foundation for what would later become the School of Computing and Informatics. He served as the founding Dean of the School of Computing and Informatics from its inception until 2022, contributing immensely to the growth and development of the Department and the University at large.
Prof. Wabwoba has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his research at numerous national and international conferences. He has also supervised and mentored a significant number of doctorate, master’s, and undergraduate students, both locally and internationally. His extensive research experience is further highlighted by his involvement in attracting substantial research funding, including a competitive Infrastructure Grant worth KES 64.6M from the National Research Fund (NRF) in 2019.
