Kibabii University Signs MOU with Unga Dawa and Savannah Honey to Foster Agricultural Innovation and Community Enterprise

In a move to amplify its impact on agricultural development and community empowerment, Kibabii University entered into two strategic Collaborative Agreement with Unga Dawa Company Limited, a pioneering enterprise in smart agri-processing and nutripeutic foods, and Savannah Honey Africa Limited, a frontrunner in modern apiculture technology and bee product value addition.

The signing ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo on 21st January 2026. By partnering with industry leaders like Unga Dawa and Savannah Honey, the University is building bridges that allow our research to directly benefit farmers, create enterprises, and improve nutrition.

The event was attended by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnership, Research and Innovation) Prof. Julius K. Maiyo, Director (Partnerships and Linkages) Dr. Paul Obino, Director (Strategic Business) Dr. Fred Atandi, and Coordinator for Linkages and International Affairs Dr. Jacinta Mutwiwa. Representing the private sector partners were Mr. Martin Nyongesa Makokha, Director of Unga Dawa Company Limited, and Ms. Jentrix Nanjala Wanyembi from Savannah Honey Africa Limited.

The partnership with Unga Dawa will focus on revolutionizing local agriculture through climate-smart practices. Key initiatives will include joint research into sustainable crop production, capacity-building workshops for smallholder farmers on value addition, and the development of robust market linkages for fortified products such as the signature ‘Unga Dawa’ flour. This collaboration aims to directly address food security and nutritional challenges while creating agri-entrepreneurship opportunities.
