Kibabii University is advancing preparations for the forthcoming Students Organization of Kibabii University (SOKU) elections, set for 27th March 2026. The elections, which will usher in the 9th SOKU leadership, are being coordinated under the Office of the Dean of Students led by Dr. Leunita Makila, with the Kibabii University Electoral Commission (KEC) chaired by Prof. Robert Kati providing operational leadership.
As part of the ongoing preparations, the University today 9th March, 2026 conducted interviews for key KEC positions, including electoral clerks, commissioners, and security personnel. These roles are essential in ensuring that the election process is professionally managed, secure, and reflective of the University’s commitment to fairness and transparency. The high turnout for the interviews demonstrated the University community’s growing interest in supporting credible student governance.
The interview exercise attracted strong interest across all categories, with 26 shortlisted candidates presenting themselves for interviews for the available 15 commissioner positions, 27 applicants competing for the 15 security slots, and 37 candidates vying for the 15 clerk positions. After the conclusion of the interviews, the Kibabii University Electoral Commission scheduled a mandatory briefing for all successful SEC candidates tomorrow, 10th March 2026, at exactly 2:00 PM, as part of the final preparations for their deployment in the forthcoming SOKU elections.
At the same time, the collection of nomination forms for aspiring candidates continued throughout the day having began on Friday, March 6th 2026. This phase has attracted enthusiastic participation from students seeking to contest various leadership positions. The Electoral Commission has reminded all aspirants that the collection and submission of nomination forms will close on Thursday, 12th March 2026 at 1:00 PM, a deadline set to facilitate timely verification and clearance ahead of the campaign period.
