Requirements for International Students

International students intending to study at Kibabii University are required to obtain the appropriate immigration documentation before commencing their studies in Kenya.

Kenya Student Pass

All international students must obtain a valid Kenya Student Pass prior to enrollment. This pass is issued in accordance with the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Regulations (2012) to foreign nationals admitted to recognized educational institutions in Kenya.

Application Procedure

The application process is conducted online through the Government of Kenya immigration portal:

  1. Register on the eFNS Portal
    Create an account via the official immigration portal: fns.immigration.go.ke
  2. Submit Student Pass Application
    Complete the online application and print Form 30, attaching all required documents.
  3. Obtain Institutional Support
    Secure a cover letter from the University Registrar to support your application.
  4. Application Review and Approval
    Once approved, you will receive a notification indicating the applicable fees and payment deadline.
    (Note: Students from East African Community (EAC) member states may be exempt from student pass fees.)
  5. Payment of Fees
    Payments are made online via the eFNS portal. An official invoice will be generated upon payment.
  6. Issuance and Collection
    Upon approval, you will be notified when your student pass is ready for collection.
  7. Endorsement
    The issued student pass must be endorsed in your passport at the Immigration Office.

Fees and Charges

The following fees may apply:

  • Student Pass Fee: KES 5,000 per year (for non-East African Community students)
  • Research Pass Fee: KES 15,000
  • Processing/Facilitation Fee: KES 2,700
  • International Student Registration Fee: KES 4,500

Student Pass Requirements

Applicants must submit the following documents:

  • Signed commitment letter from sponsor (if applicable)
  • Copy of sponsor’s national passport
  • Proof of funds (for self-sponsored students)
  • Copy of valid national passport (bio-data page)
  • Current immigration status (if already in Kenya)
  • Two recent passport-size colour photographs
  • Certified copies of academic certificates (for new applicants)
  • Certified academic transcripts (for renewals)
  • Copy of previous student pass (for renewals)
  • Police Clearance Certificate from country of origin or Kenya Police Service

Research / Internship Pass

This pass is issued to individuals intending to undertake academic research or internships in Kenya. Applicants must be accepted by a recognized institution.

Requirements

  • Duly completed and signed Form 30
  • Official cover letter from the host institution detailing the research/internship and duration
  • Copy of valid passport (bio-data page)
  • Current immigration status (if applicable)
  • Two passport-size photographs
  • Certified academic certificates and CV
  • Research permit from the National Commission for Science, Technology and Innovation (for research applicants)
  • Police Clearance Certificate
  • Translated documents (if not in English) certified by authorized bodies

How to Apply

To apply for a Student, Research, or Internship Pass:

  • Create an account on the Government of Kenya Single Sign-On portal
  • Log in to the eFNS portal and select “Apply Now”
  • Submit your application under the relevant category (Student/Research/Internship Pass)
  • Track your application status via your dashboard
  • Make payments online or via designated immigration offices if necessary

Applicants will receive automatic updates via email and through their eFNS account regarding the progress of their application.
