International Student Orientation

About Orientation

Each year, Kibabii University organizes a comprehensive orientation programme for international students to support a smooth transition into university life and the surrounding community in Bungoma.

Orientation is a university-wide initiative involving academic faculties, student residences, and key support units such as the Department of Student Affairs. These sessions are designed to warmly welcome new students, introduce them to the University environment, and help them feel fully integrated into the KIBU community.

The Directorate of Partnerships and Linkages (DPL) plays a central role in delivering orientation sessions tailored to international students. Through this programme, students receive essential information on:

  • Immigration and legal requirements
  • Health and safety services
  • Academic procedures and expectations
  • Financial arrangements
  • Student support services and campus resources

Students are also introduced to life in Bungoma, the university environment, and aspects of Kenyan culture to help them adjust comfortably.

Attendance at orientation is highly encouraged, as it provides critical information and an opportunity to connect with fellow students and university staff. Orientation Leaders are available throughout the programme to offer guidance and support—students are encouraged to seek assistance whenever needed.

Pre-Registration

In compliance with Kenya’s Immigration regulations, all higher education institutions are required to maintain accurate records of international students. Kibabii University is therefore obligated to ensure that all international students hold valid documentation before formal registration.

All international students must complete pre-registration with the Directorate of Partnerships and Linkages (DPL) before proceeding to faculty registration.

Required Documents for Pre-Registration

Students are required to present the following:

  • A valid passport with an appropriate student visa
  • Proof of payment of fees or sponsorship (where applicable)
  • Proof of valid medical insurance from a recognized Kenyan medical provider, covering the full duration of study
  • A copy of the medical insurance documentation

Only after completing pre-registration will students be eligible to proceed with official academic registration within their respective faculties. Students are advised to confirm registration dates and requirements directly with their faculty or programme office.
