KIBU Opens Doors for First Years and Continuing Students under Strict Adherence to Health Measure
On Monday, January 11, 2021 Kibabii University opened her academic doors for the first-year students in a move to embrace face to face as well as blended learning with the latter suffering major blow in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic that emerged leading to closure of all learning institutions early March 2020.
A section of first-year students exuded enthusiasm in resuming the physical lectures unlike online classes which according to them came with lots of challenges.
“It feels good to be in Kibabii University for face-to-face learning. I feel anxious of course, because it is my first time to be in the University but with time, I know I will catch up with the rest of my course mates and make friends. We are eager to learn; the timetable is out but we are experiencing challenges interpreting it. Personally, I don’t understand anything concerning core units, common units and elective units and how lectures are conducted. This is the exposure we were missing in the face of online lectures,” one Gideon Namasaka a first-year student taking Education (Kiswahili and Religion) said.
On Monday, January 18, 2021, the first years were joined by second-year students in conjunction with other students already in session ahead of their main and special examination preparations.
The University’s security and medical services teams were on course in enforcing the proper wearing of face masks as well as washing of hands at the entrance to the facilities as one of the directives from the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education led by Cabinet Secretaries Mutahi Kagwe and Prof. George Magoha respectively.

Orientation Speech Delivered to Freshmen 2017/2018 by Vice Chancellor
We are gathered here for a very important activity. One that marks the end of your orientation programme and has ut-most significance to you today and in your entire life. The freshmen who give this function the seriousness it deserves have never gone wrong. Thank you for your presence.
My remarks today are based on the fact that university students find themselves in trouble because they know so little about themselves.
In the last two weeks, Kenya had a chance to show case one of its most important resource, the human resource in the form of its sons and daughters who won elective positions as Governors, Senators, Women Representatives, Members of Parliament and Members of County Assemblies. Even Kibabii had four of its former and current students on the list of elected and nominated MCAs.Readmore
