Kibabii University Secures KSh 45 Million Consultancy Contract from KCB Foundation and Mastercard Foundation

Kibabii University dons led by Prof. Joshua Abuya, have secured a KES 45 million consultancy contract from the KCB Foundation, supported by the Mastercard Foundation. The Project Team comprises Prof. Joshua Abuya (Principal Investigator), Dr. Fred Atandi (Co-Principal Investigator), Dr. Tecla Kirwa, and Gideon Kirui. This team will spearhead the development of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Western Kenya, further solidifying the University’s reputation as a hub for impactful research and transformative community engagement.

In collaboration with Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology and Tom Mboya University, Kibabii University will deliver Business Development Services to train, coach, and mentor over 2,500 MSMEs across the Western Kenya region. This initiative aims to equip MSMEs with essential skills and knowledge to innovate, scale operations, and remain competitive in dynamic markets. Ultimately, the program is expected to create numerous job opportunities, significantly enhancing the socioeconomic landscape of the region.

Elated by the vibrancy of various research teams in the University, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo observed that the consultancy will leverage Kibabii University’s strategic partnerships, technical expertise, and innovative approaches to deliver sustainable business solutions.

“This is not just a win for Kibabii University; it is a win for Western Kenya and the MSMEs that are the backbone of our economy,” said Vice Chancellor.
