Kibabii University joined the world on 1st December, 2019 in celebrating the World AIDS Day at Busakala Girls High School, Kabuchai Sub-County. World Aids day is the day people globally unite in the fight against HIV and AIDS and show their support for people living with HIV and AIDS. 2019 World AIDS day theme was “Towards UHC: Communities united for a HIV Free Generation”. The focus was on community involvement as part of the national strategy in the fight against HIV and AIDS. Kibabii University theme for the day was: “To create an AIDS free Kibabii community of well informed and educated people with a clear view of the realities and impacts of HIV and AIDS”.
A procession of Kibabii University student peer educators along with HIV and AIDS counselors, community health workers, local spiritual leaders and communities of people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS among others marked the opening of the event. KIBU students peer educators were involved in mobilizing the community around Chwele market to attend the commemoration of World AIDS Day.
