Biography
Dr. Ong’anyi holds a PhD in Population Geography from the University of Nairobi. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Social Sciences, and the current Director, Partnerships and Linkages, Kibabii University. Dr. Ong’anyi has over ten years wealth of Project management and administrative experience having managed a number of EU and USAID funded Projects in Kenya. He is currently implementing European Union (Erasmus + Programme) funded Fostering Innovation in African HEIs to enhance their Relevance for the Digital Innovation Labour Market (UNIHUBS) Project No. 101128313; and East African-European Virtual Exchange for Environmental Conservation and Climate Action (ECO-ACT) Project No. 101193492; Sustainable Drier Solution for Sugarcane Waste for African Agriculture Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) Project 2023-24 R1 funded by UKRI, UK; and Strengthening Mental Health Awareness among Secondary School Students in Kenya (SMEHAS- Project No. P103) funded by Africa- /OeAD UniNet. Dr. Ong’anyi wound up EU funded Erasmus + Programme African Higher Education Leadership in Advancing Inclusive Innovation for Development / AHEAD Project in October 2021; and University Research funded Universal Health Care Needs Assessment for the Aging Population in Kenya, and Innovative Agribusiness Approach to Cassava (Manihot esculenta) and Millet (Eleusine spp) Value Chain Enhancement Research Projects in 2020after successful implementation. He has conducted a lot of consultancies and scientific and policy research on various issues and published extensively in several peer reviewed journals in the areas Population Studies and Livelihoods, and HIV and AIDS. Dr. Ong’anyi is a member of Population Association of Kenya and an Alumni of the University of Nairobi and the National Centre of Competence in Research, North-South, Switzerland.
