Q: How do I get a library card or membership?
A: All enrolled students and staff can get a library membership by registering at the library reception.

Q: Who can access the library?
A: Access is available to students, faculty, staff, and authorized alumni.

Q: Is the library open during holidays or breaks?
A: Reduced hours apply during semester breaks and public holidays; check our Opening Hours section for details.

Q: How many books can I borrow at a time?
A: Students can borrow up to 5 books; staff may borrow up to 10.

Q: Can I renew borrowed books online?
A: Yes, books can be renewed through the online catalogue (OPAC) if they are not reserved by others.

Q: What happens if I return a book late?
A: Late returns incur a small fine per day; check the library rules for rates.

Q: Can I reserve a book that is currently on loan?
A: Yes, you can place a hold through the OPAC, and we will notify you when it is available.

Q: Are there quiet study areas in the library?
A: Yes, our Silent Study Area is available for focused individual work.

Q: Can I book collaborative rooms?
A: Yes, group study and collaborative rooms can be reserved online or at the library reception.

Q: Are computers and Wi-Fi available?
A: All library spaces have high-speed Wi-Fi, and PCs are available for student use.

Q: Is printing, scanning, or photocopying available?
A: Yes, all library services include printing, scanning, and photocopy facilities.

Q: Are there accessible services for students with disabilities?
A: Yes, our accessibility services ensure equal access to all resources and facilities.

Q: How can I suggest a new book or e-resource?
A: Submit your suggestion via the “Resource Request” form on our website or at the library desk.

Q: How do I access e-books and e-journals?
A: Use our Open Access or Subscribed E-Resources links on the library website.

Q: What is the difference between open access and subscribed resources?
A: Open access resources are freely available to everyone; subscribed resources require library credentials.

Q: Can I access library resources off-campus?
A: Yes — use MyLOFT Remote Access to securely access subscribed e-resources from anywhere.

Q: Are there tutorials for using databases or citation tools?
A: Yes, check our “Research Support” section for guides on databases, Mendeley, Zotero, and AI plagiarism tools.

Due Date Confirmation

  1. On your browser, go to Kibabii University webpage (http:kibu.ac.ke/) and select Library
  2. On the top bar menu, click on OPAC
  3. Select ‘Log into your account’ on the right hand side of the top menu. In the Login, enter your Registration Number (for students) or Personal file Number -P/F No. (for staff) as user-name and use the same as your password.

NOTE

  • You can customize your password to your preference, through the help of library staff.
  • Once Logged in, you can view the books you’ve borrowed, their duty dates(s) and also go through the history of what you’ve been signing for.
  • You can browse the institutional repository for past exam papers
