The Kibabii University Social Workers Association (KIBUSWA) conducted an outreach mission to Bobleo Children’s Home and Kapenguria Prison in West Pokot County on Thursday, 23rd October, 2025.
During the visit, the team donated food items and clothing to both institutions, offering much-needed support and comfort to children and inmates. The initiative aimed to promote empathy, dignity, and inclusivity values that lie at the heart of social work practice not only brought hope and relief to the beneficiaries but also reinforced KIBUSWA’s dedication to nurturing socially responsible graduates equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.
Speaking during the visit, KIBUSWA representatives underscored the importance of reaching out to marginalized groups and nurturing a culture of generosity and compassion among university students. The activity also provided members with a hands-on opportunity to apply social work principles in real-life community contexts.
After the outreach, the team toured the Kapenguria Museum, where they explored Kenya’s rich historical heritage and learned about the nation’s struggle for independence.
