Kibabii University’s athletics team delivered a commendable performance at the East Africa University Games held at Moi Stadium in Kisumu City on Wednesday, 18th December. The athletes showcased their talent and determination, earning the University a total of one Silver medal and three Bronze medals.
The team’s achievements were spread across individual and relay events. Meywo Calistus Kwemoi excelled in the 800m race, finishing in third place to secure a Bronze medal. Similarly, Otunga Alivitsa Yvon put on an outstanding performance in the 400m event, earning a well-deserved Silver medal.
The relay teams also displayed exceptional teamwork and coordination. In the 4x400m women’s relay, the quartet of Otunga Alivitsa Yvon, Chepchumba Magdaline, Khaemba Naomy Nafula, and Chepngetich Caren earned a Bronze medal with a spirited effort. The men’s relay team, featuring Opiyo Fabian Omondi, Meywo Calistus Kwemoi, Wayne Rooney, and Namswa Elias Mwana, matched this feat by also securing a Bronze medal in their 4x400m event.
