Prof. Samuel Mbugua Delivers Keynote Address at the 4th IEEE International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference in South Africa

Between 27th and 29th November, 2024, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research, and Innovation) Prof. Samuel Mungai Mbugua, delivered a keynote address at the 4th IEEE International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference. The event was hosted by Vaal University of Technology, South Africa.

Prof. Mbugua’s address, titled “Leveraging Emerging Trends in ICT for Sustainable Development,” explored how advancements in Information and Communication Technology can be harnessed to address pressing global challenges and promote sustainability.

The conference marked a significant milestone in the collaboration between Kibabii University and Vaal University of Technology, stemming from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in May 2024. This MoU laid the foundation for mutual cooperation in areas such as joint research, advisory services, postgraduate supervision, capacity building, consultancies, student internships and attachments, international conferences, and financial resource mobilization.

Mbugua, an Associate Professor is a distinguished scholar with a rich academic background spanning prestigious universities worldwide. He holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Electronic Engineering from the Chartered Engineering Institute (UK), a Master of Science in Computer-Based Information Systems from the University of Sunderland (UK), and a Ph.D. in Information Technology from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (Kenya). His expertise, which bridges Information Technology and Electronic Engineering, positions him as a leading figure in academia and industry.
