Biography

Prof. Abuya Joshua Olang’o is a distinguished Associate Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management with over two decades of progressive Academic, Administrative, Consultancy, and Research Leadership experience across East Africa. Prof. Abuya currently serves at Kibabii University in two strategic roles, including Ag. Registrar (Planning, Partnerships, Research & Innovation), and Director of Research & Innovation. Prof. Abuya has formerly served in a couple of strategic roles, including: Discharging Duties of the Office of Vice Chancellor; Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration, Finance & Development) and Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research & Innovation).

Prof. Abuya holds a PhD in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology, an MBA in Procurement & Supply Chain Management from the University of Nairobi, and a BSc. in Agricultural Education & Extension from Egerton University. He is also a Full Member (MCIPS) of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (UK), with advanced diplomas in Purchasing and Supply.

Over the years, Prof. Abuya has demonstrated an exceptional blend of scholarly output, institutional leadership, and international research collaboration. He has served as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer at Kibabii University, a Director of Research, Innovation & Development and Head of Department at KIM University (Rwanda), and has contributed significantly to university-level curriculum development, supervision, and strategic planning.

Prof. Abuya has led and participated in more than 10 competitive Research Projects and Consultancies, attracting funding to the tune of KES 856 million, including grants from the European Union, Innovate UK, Africa UniNET, Inter-University Council of East Africa (IUCEA) and WAITRO. Prof. Abuya’s roles in these projects range from Principal Investigator to Team Member, reflecting his versatility and global reach in academia and development.

As a prolific scholar, Prof. Abuya has authored and co-authored numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. Prof. Abuya’s work focuses on logistics optimization, supply chain performance, procurement ethics, digital supply chain transformation, and public sector value chains. Prof. Abuya has supervised several PhD and Master’s Theses in Kenya and Rwanda and has served as an external examiner for doctoral candidates in leading universities.

In the domain of consultancy, Prof. Abuya has worked with institutions such as KEMRI/CDC, IEBC, PEMA Africa, RUMA CPA Consultants, Public Procurement Regulatory AuthorityPPRA (thro’ DEVRELL Consultants, LIDATECH Consultants) and CIMERWA, delivering high-level training and advisory services in public procurement, governance, and organizational performance across Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Nigeria.

Beyond academia, Prof. Abuya is a passionate mentor and community servant, with a strong record in Capacity Building, Grant Writing, Policy Development, and Research Commercialization. He is well-regarded for his professionalism, ethical leadership, and strategic foresight in enhancing institutional competitiveness and research output in higher education.
