Biography

Dr. Atandi is a distinguished scholar, practitioner, and academic leader in the field of Entrepreneurship, currently serving as the Director of the Strategic Business Directorate at Kibabii University. He is also a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow in Entrepreneurship, where he plays a pivotal role in advancing teaching, research, and institutional innovation.

With a strong commitment to academic excellence, Dr. Atandi has extensive experience in university teaching and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has successfully supervised over twenty five postgraduate students, demonstrating his dedication to nurturing research capacity and scholarly development. His mentorship has contributed significantly to the production of high-quality research aligned with contemporary entrepreneurial and economic challenges.

Dr. Atandi previously served as the Chairperson of the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting in the School of Business and Economics at Kibabii University between 2021 and 2024. During his tenure, he provided strategic leadership that strengthened departmental performance, academic programming, and research output. His academic and administrative experience extends beyond Kenya. Between 2019 and 2021, he served as a Lecturer and Acting Dean of the School of Business at Bugema University,Uganda  where he contributed to institutional development and academic quality enhancement in a dynamic international environment.

Dr. Atandi brings valuable industry experience from his over seven-year tenure at Equity Bank Kenya Limited, where he worked across multiple branches as a senior officerf. This exposure has enriched his teaching and research with practical insights into financial systems, enterprise development, and organizational management. A seasoned entrepreneur and consultant, Dr. Atandi has served as a Prime Consultant with Benians Management Consultants since 2003. Through this role, he has provided strategic advisory services to a wide range of organizations, further bridging the gap between academia and industry practice.

Dr. Atandi is an accomplished researcher with an impressive portfolio of over 35(Thirty five)publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also actively participated in  18 (Eighteen) local and international conferences, contributing to global discourse on entrepreneurship and business development. His current research interests focus on entrepreneurial innovation and financing, family entrepreneurship, and business modelling areas that are critical to economic transformation and sustainable enterprise growth. In recognition of his scholarly excellence and research capability, Dr. Atandi has successfully secured several competitive research grants from diverse funding agencies amounting to Ksh 89,950,418.  He is also a Full Member of the Kenya Institute of Management since 2016, underscoring his commitment to professional development and ethical leadership.
