Wilson Ndambuki, a student in the Department of Computer Science, School of Computing and Informatics has been selected for a one year internship in Switzerland under the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) programme.
Ndambuki is scheduled to depart for Switzerland on 7th August 2026, becoming the University’s second outbound IAESTE intern in recent weeks, following the departure of Dickson Kiprotich Lomol to Burundi.
During his internship, Ndambuki will be hosted by the Institute for Interactive Technologies (IIT) at the FHNW – University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland in Windisch. The Institute is a multidisciplinary computer science research and innovation centre that collaborates closely with industry to design cutting-edge solutions in requirements engineering, develop innovative interfaces and interactive environments, create immersive digital experiences, and generate insights through intelligent data visualization.
The placement offers Ndambuki an opportunity to gain practical experience in globally competitive fields, including Human-Computer Interaction, Extended Reality, Software Engineering, Computer Graphics, Information Visualization, and Machine Learning, while working alongside leading researchers and industry professionals.
Ahead of his departure, Ndambuki paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, who congratulated him on the achievement and wished him success during his internship. The Vice Chancellor described the opportunity as a reflection of the quality of education and talent nurtured at Kibabii University and encouraged the student to be an exemplary ambassador of the University and Kenya by upholding the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and excellence throughout his stay in Switzerland.
Also present during the meeting were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Partnerships, Research and Innovation), Prof. Julius Maiyo; the Coordinator, Linkages and International Affairs, Dr. Jacinta Mutwiwa; and the Chairperson of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Yonah Etene.
