On 2nd September 2026, Kibabii University received a donation of male condoms from the National Syndemic Diseases Control Council (NSDCC) to support efforts to promote sexual and reproductive health among students.
The donation was officially handed over by Rev. Steve Kathaka, Principal Programme Officer for Region 12, covering Bungoma, Busia and Trans-Nzoia Counties. The consignment was received on behalf of the University by Dr. Benson M. Nasongo, Deputy Dean of Students, Ms. Margaret Waithaka, Senior Hostels Officer, and representatives of the Students Organisation of Kibabii University (SOKU).
Speaking on behalf of the University, Dr. Nasongo expressed appreciation to NSDCC for the donation, noting that it would contribute to preventing unintended pregnancies and reducing the transmission of sexually transmitted infections among students. He also welcomed the timing of the donation, which coincides with the reporting of first-year students, noting that new students may be particularly vulnerable as they adjust to university life.
The University reaffirmed its commitment to promoting student health, wellbeing and responsible decision-making through partnerships with relevant health agencies and stakeholders.
