Kibabii University hosted a delegation from Busitema University on 16th July, 2026 for discussions aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration between the two universities. The delegation from Busitema University was led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Paul Waako, and included the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Associate Prof. Saphina Biira; Dr. Joseph Lwangaga, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology; Associate Prof. David Olema, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Education; Dr. Godfrey Lubadde, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Animal Sciences; and Ms. Harriet Nabirye, Principal Internationalization and Partnerships Officer.
The meeting brought together officials from both institutions to deliberate on strategic areas of partnership, with a focus on advancing teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement. Key areas of collaboration discussed included joint research and innovation, staff and student exchange programmes, academic programme development, capacity building initiatives, innovation and entrepreneurship, and community engagement.
A key highlight of the visit was the formal exchange of the duly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to fostering a long-term strategic partnership. The MoU is expected to provide a structured framework for implementing the agreed areas of collaboration.
The meeting resolved to establish a joint implementation committee to coordinate collaborative activities, develop an implementation plan outlining timelines and priority actions, identify priority projects for immediate implementation, facilitate regular communication and progress review meetings, and mobilize resources to support joint programmes and initiatives.
The visit concluded with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close collaboration and ensuring the effective implementation of the agreed areas of cooperation, marking a significant step forward in the partnership between Kibabii University and Busitema University.
