Kibabii University and Busitema University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening regional collaboration in teaching, research, innovation, and academic exchange. The MoU was signed on 7th July, 2026 during a ceremony held at Busitema University in Uganda. The partnership provides a framework for collaboration that will leverage the strengths of the two institutions to enhance academic excellence, research, innovation, and regional development.
The Kibabii University delegation was led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo, and included the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation), Prof. Julius K. Maiyo, Director of Partnerships and Linkages, Prof. Paul Obino and Coordinator of Linkages and International Affairs, Dr. Jacinta Mutwiwa. They were received by the Vice Chancellor of Busitema University, Prof. Paul Waako, and the First Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs and Research), Assoc. Prof. Biira Saphiina.
Speaking during the signing ceremony, the two Vice Chancellors underscored the importance of institutional partnerships in advancing higher education within the East African region. They noted that the collaboration will promote staff and student exchange programmes, joint research initiatives, innovation, capacity building, and commercialization of research outputs.
The partnership is expected to strengthen the capacities of both institutions while contributing to the East African Community’s agenda of promoting quality higher education, research, innovation, and sustainable regional development.
