The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is elated to welcome Prof. Ernest Sangai Mohochi \u00a0in its expanding the pool of scholars and academicians. Prof. Ernest Sangai Mohochi\u00a0 is a distinguished Professor of Kiswahili and the former Registrar of Academics at Kibabii University. Prof. Mohochi who is a specialist in Kiswahili Language and Literature hold a PhD in Kiswahili from Egerton University. Before joining Kibabii University as its Registrar Academics Prof. Mohochi was at Rongo University where he was the Dean, School of Graduate Studies after having served as the Head of Department in the Department of Languages, Linguistics and Literature. He has also previously taught at Maseno University, Sanford University USA, St. Lawrence University in New York, USA and Egerton University.<\/p>

With over 30 years of teaching experience, Prof. Mohochi has taught and supervised students at PhD and Masters levels and also taught numerous undergraduate courses in Kiswahili. He has published over 36 scholarly articles in refereed journals and more than 14 book chapters among other scholarly work. With over 41 supervision of postgraduate students at both PhD and Masters and a number of external examination Prof comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience which is going to be very key in the teaching, supervision, mentoring and growth of postgraduate scholars in Kibabii University who are taking their PhDs and Masters in Kiswahili in the Department of Kiswahili and Other African Languages. His services will also be immeasurable in the School of Post-Graduate Studies.<\/p>

Prof. Ernest Mohochi is a member of a number of boards and Committees which includes; CHAKITA (Chama Cha Kiswahili Cha Taifa;Kenya), CHAKAMA (Chama Cha Kiswahili Cha Afrika Mashariki), CHAIKAMA (Chama Cha Idara Za Kiswahili Afrika Mashariki), Advisory Committee, the Department of African Languages at the University of Free State and also a member of the Advisory Board, Jarida La Fahari ya Kiswahili (JAFAKI) Catholic University, Tanzania. He is also the founder and chair of Kusoma International-The Laurenti Mohochi Educational Foundation among many others.<\/p>
