Kibabii University Chancellor, Mr. Paul Russo, EBS, paid an official visit to the University on Friday, 17th July 2026, marking his first engagement with the University since his appointment in April 2026. The Chancellor was received by the Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Chris Macoloo, alongside members of the University Council and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo. Mr. Russo is the second Chancellor of Kibabii University, succeeding the Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H., whose tenure ended in 2022.
Addressing a joint session of the University Council and Senate, the Chancellor underscored the importance of sound governance in steering universities through the rapidly evolving higher education landscape.
“Higher education is undergoing unprecedented transformation. We must strengthen governance if we are to successfully navigate these changes,” he said.
He further challenged the University community to focus not only on producing graduates but also on nurturing individuals capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
“The true measure of a university is not the number of graduates it produces, but the boldness of those graduates and the positive impact they make in their communities,” he noted.
The Chancellor also urged the University to safeguard academic integrity and uphold the credibility of its academic programmes and qualifications.
“Guard the integrity of your academic processes and the credibility of the certificates you confer. These are the pillars upon which the reputation of any great university rests,” he emphasized.
He commended Kibabii University’s Strategic Plan, describing it as a strong foundation for institutional growth and competitiveness, and pledged to work closely with the University Council and Management to enhance the University’s global visibility and recognition.
Concluding his address, Mr. Russo called upon the University community to remain united in advancing Kibabii University’s vision and strategic aspirations.
“Let us remain united in purpose as we build a stronger, more innovative and globally competitive Kibabii University,” he said.
