In a boost to international educational collaborations, Kibabii University hosted a team of four (4) scholars and 26 students from NLA University, Norway, on 16th and 17th January, 2025. This visit is part of the ongoing Erasmus+ exchange program.
The delegation, led by Mareike Mannigel, the International Coordinator from NLA University was officially received by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo. They engaged in a series of meetings and workshops aimed at refining the student exchange process and enriching the academic experience for students from both universities. Key focus was a Workshop on Cultural Preparation and Logistics which addressed essential topics such as cultural norms, weather preparedness, and financial planning for students preparing to study abroad. This session also explored the role of current students in assisting subsequent cohorts, which is crucial for the continuity and success of the exchange program. The meeting included an informative session on the comprehensive Pre-Travel Induction Program for Kibabii University students traveling to NLA University, ensuring they are well-prepared for the academic and cultural challenges they might face. Already, two (2) Kibabii University students Mr. Phillipe Silali and Ms. Milicent Wekesa are preparing for a five-month academic exchange in Norway, starting on 26th January, 2025.
On the second day of the visit, the delegation made a courtesy call to the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Planning, Partnership, Research and Innovation) Prof. Samuel Mbuguah where matters of robust collaborations and enhanced opportunities were discussed. The visit was crowned by a joint lecture given by Dr. Morris Sengho of Kibabii University and Dr. Solveg from NLA, attended by 15 students from the School of Nursing at Kibabii and 26 Inter-cultural Studies students from NLA. The session provided valuable insights into the educational methodologies of both institutions.
