It is with immense pleasure that I welcome you all to Kibabii University, a premier University that is committed to scholarly excellence. It is a new University that prides itself on ultra-modern infrastructure, serene landscape and excellent staff.

Today is a special day for you new students. You are among the few who secured admission to University and more importantly the coveted chance to join Kibabii University. We are happy you made the decision to join this great institution. Congratulations. As you will confirm soon, you made the correct choice and you are in the right place.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Today is also a historic moment in your life. Because of the phenomenon of the COVID-19 pandemic, you will become the first in your generation to go through the process of admission, orientation and eventually attend classes without setting foot at the University.

In the next few days, you will be taken through a process that will ensure you cope with a new phase in your life, new ways of thinking and new ways of doing things. You will also not only face unknown challenges but new opportunities as well. Different people will help you learn how to navigate the new terrain, how to grow, how to discover new things   and how to make a positive difference in your home, community, country and world. All these are directed at enabling you to thrive as a young adult in the profession you are pursuing as well as your personal life and life as a global citizen.

Kibabii is a University of Science, Technology and Innovation which is driven by the mission to   produce graduates well equipped with essential capacities including new knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and habits of the mind. We believe this   critical to the posterity of you our students and by extension all human beings.

Dear Freshmen,

I know this is going to be a very busy week. As you go through the orientation sessions, I urge you to keep your ears and eyes wide open in order to learn as much as possible about the University and its operations. You are now part of an institution that will mould you and form the next stage of your life and indeed your future.

To get the best out of the orientation programme you must adhere to the following:

  1. Adopt and adapt to information technology and strive to improve your skills and mastery of internet every day.
  2. We have talented, qualified and committed academic and administrative staff. Keep a record of their contacts and seek their guidance and support.
  3. Master the University time table and programme of events.
  4. Ensure you comply with requirements including paying fees.
  5. You must keep safe at all times.

I wish you the very best in the orientation process comprehend as much as possible and ask as many questions as you can so that you are fully acquainted with Kibabii University. We will meet again at the climax of your orientation process during the Vice Chancellor’s Address on Wednesday 23rd September, 2020.
