Kibabii University hosted an Annual Media Relations Symposium on Wednesday 22nd September, 2021.
The inaugural event presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Isaac Ipara Odeo brought together editors, sub-editors and correspondents from various TV, Radio, Newspapers and Digital Publications (Blogs) in Bungoma County under the theme: “Enhanced Space for Media in Higher Education”.
The members of the 4th Estate were taken through the journey the University has undergone, challenges, achievements and projections since its inception as a Constituent College in 2012.
“We cannot downplay the role the media has played in bringing Kibabii University to this far and it is imperative to have this forum,” said the Vice Chancellor Prof Isaac Odeo Ipara in his official opening remarks.
The VC encouraged the media to remain ethical in disseminating information to the public as it is through the media that masses get to know of the happenings around the world. He assured of larger events in the coming years as the University warms up towards hosting a national event in 2022.
Also in attendance was Ag. Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics and Students Affairs) Prof Julius Kiprop Maiyo, Kibabii Police Post OCS Insp. Fredrick Simiyu and other community representatives.
