Kibabii University’s senior lecturer in the Department of Psychology and Early Childhood Education was a Chief Guest during a thanksgiving ceremony of Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho on Friday 26th May, 2023. Dr. Robert Wafula, a renown youth mentor and psychologist has been mentoring the school for the last four years, a role the school attributes to the success of their candidates in national examinations. Wafula also mentors other top schools in the country including Kapsabet Boys, Kabianga Boys High School, St. Bridgid’s Kiminini Girls, Chewoyet Girls, Kolanya Girls’ among others.
According to the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) results of 2022, Cardinal Otunga High School Mosocho emerged second overall, with a mean grade of 10.76. Notably, all its 331 candidates transited to university. The school currently boasts of a population of 2,500 learners and 75 teachers. Mr. Albert Ombiro, the school’s Chief Principal credited the impressive performance to timely mentorship programmes, a devoted team of academic staff alongside hard work and discipline exhibited by the students. He aims at a mean grade of 11.00 for the class of 2023.
Dr. Wafula is also the Director of Career Services at Kibabii University. Under his auspices, the University conducts weekly inhouse mentorship programmes for visiting high schools from across the country. Since inception, the programme has seen over 1000 schools and over 10,000 candidates visit the University.
