Kibabii University Partners with Stakeholders to Offer Free Medical Services to the Community

On 24th June, 2025, Kibabii University, in partnership with the Bungoma County Government Health Services, Eldoret Hospital, and LifeCare Hospitals, held a free community medical camp at Mayanja Health Center. The event drew a large number of residents, who received a wide range of health services free of charge. These included blood pressure and diabetes screening, HIV testing and counseling, family planning services, pharmacy support, triage, and laboratory services. The turnout reflected the community’s trust in the annual program and highlighted the critical role such initiatives play in reaching underserved populations.

The event was graced by Ms. Sophy Nekoye Waliaula, the University’s Coordinator (Quality Assurance), who championed the theme “Working on Happy Beginnings and Hopeful Change for the Future.” She also led efforts to address the persistent issue of jigger infestation in the community, a key focus of the day’s initiative, noting that only a single minor case of jigger infestation was reported, a positive sign of progress in the fight against the condition.

The event organized by Chairperson of the Community Outreach Committee Mr. Mulati Omukoba Nyukuri brought together a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and volunteers from various institutions, Community Based Organizations, Village Administrators and many more.

Speaking during the event, the Village Administrator for Mayanja Village Mr. Joseph Simiyu expressed his appreciation to the organizers and urged residents to take full advantage of the services offered. He praised Kibabii University and its partners for their commitment to improving community health and called for more such programs in the future.

Mr. Mulati Nyukuri reaffirmed the University’s long-term commitment to community health, announcing plans to establish a fully functional health facility within the University. This facility is expected to serve the Kibabii, Mayanja, and greater Bungoma areas. He also shared plans for the University to seek accreditation to offer primary health care training through the School of Health and Applied Sciences (SHA).
